Map of Denia, Valencia, Spain

Tamarindo is within easy and direct reach of Denia, a superb family resort dominated by its working harbour. There are miles and miles of beaches both to the north and the south of the town, but if you tire of sunbathing then sailing, windsurfing, diving and fishing are just some of the watersports on offer. If you would rather not get your feet wet, you could try mountain climbing, mountain biking, tennis, or golf at either of the nearby 18 hole golf courses at Oliva Nova Golf or Club La Sella Golf. Or you could just relax in one of the many bars and restaurants, sampling the fresh food and watching the world go by.  There are regular fish and meat markets. Castles, shops, ferries to the Balearics, even a National Park – there is something for everyone here. If you fancy straying further afield, many of the surrounding towns and villages are also worth a visit. To the north, Gandia is a bustling city, great for shopping, as is the town of Oliva, whose Oliva Nova Golf Course was designed and built by Seve Ballesteros. To the south, you could visit Calpe, Moraira, or for those in search of serious nightlife or perhaps family fun at an aqua park, Benidorm is about 40km away.  Scenic trains run along a large part of the coastline and you can get all the way to Benidorm this way.
